LAHORE: Samjhauta Express train, which runs between Lahore and Amritsar, left for India as per schedule right after being temporarily suspended.
Indian Railway had sent a letter to Pakistan Railway that Samjhauta Express will not be able to operate on Monday as per the schedule because of protests in Amritsar which may cause security difficulties.
Later Indian Railway officials allowed the train to run at its scheduled time as the protest in Amritsar was under control and it will not affect the operation of train.
138 passengers set off for Attari through Wagah Border in train.
The Samjhauta Express, carrying 75 passengers, will leave for India today as per the original schedule.
Samjhauta Express was the only connection between the two countries until the Thar Express was started. The Samjhauta Express was started on 22 July 1976 under the agreement to connect Lahore with Amritsar.
