WASHINGTON: A rich tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi paid by the World Bank during a ceremony in Washington.
Annette Dixon, World Bank’s Vice President for the South Asia Region, said that the social worker was an example for the whole world and it is necessary to carry his mission.
On the occasion Jalil Abbas Jilani, Ambassador of Pakistan, said that Abdul Sattar Edhi didn’t take a single peeny from the government or never borrowed anything from any non-government organization for his services to his nation.
While paying tribute to Edhi, Ex-governor of State Bank of Pakistan Dr. Ishrat Hussain said that Edhi served people without knowing if which race they belong to and without religious discrimination.
He added that Edhi’s services will always be remembered.
Edhi Passed away on 8th July. He was given a state funeral and a huge number of people had attended his funeral.
The Senate of Pakistan has passed a resolution to observe July 08 as the Edhi Day.
