ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan takes up the infamous Panamagate case on Tuesday where it had left it during the last hearing, a week ago.

Senior lawyer Akram Sheikh, representing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his children in the high-profile case, submitted an application requesting a five-member larger SC bench headed by Chief Justice Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali to hear the case on a daily basis and raising concerns that a delay could cause more serious problems.

Speaking to media outside the court, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said he wish the Supreme Court could wind-up the case today.

PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi claimed that the case was almost close to an end and that the entire government and its ministers were struggling to save one person.

Chief of the Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rasheed remained confident that the top court would be able to do justice in the case; however, he also said that he would accept any verdict of the court.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz submitted additional documents related to Sharif family’s property in London in which he now claims that Park Lane flats were bought in the 90s, distancing himself from earlier claims that the flats were bought in 2006.

Hussain Nawaz already had accepted that he owns the flats on Park Lane, London which belong to offshore companies Nescol Limited and Nelson Limited.

According to latest details now submitted in the court by Akram Sheikh on Monday, on May 7, 1993, Nescol Company bought flat numbers 17 and 17-A and on July 10, 1995, Nelson Company bought flat numbers 16 and 16-A. In all, the four Park Lane flats were bought at a cost of 19, 5,000 pounds, as per the documents submitted in the court.

From buying and until it was sold, the apex court on November 30 had sought details of Sharif family’s Jeddah Steel Mill.

The court had asked: How the finances were raised for Jeddah Steel Mill? How loans were taken from Saudi banks? How and at what value, Jeddah Steel Mill was sold? How was money transferred from Jeddah to London? How Tariq Shafi transferred 12 million dirhams to Qatar?

Regarding the letter by Qatari prince, dated November 5, 2016, the court had also asked about the legal status of the letter, since the name of the recipient was not mentioned in it.

Saying PM Nawaz and his family members were misleading the court through false statements, PTI lead counsel in the Panamagate case Naeem Bukhari had said that there was no money trail regarding Sharif family’s properties in Dubai, Saudi Arabia and London flats.

The PTI’s counsel also had revealed details about a new property of the Sharif family, telling the court that Flagship Limited was also owned by Hussain Nawaz.
