LAHORE: Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) early Friday morning announced to close Allama Iqbal International Airport till 10 am on the back of heavy fog that descended on Lahore.
Flights scheduled to land in Lahore were rerouted to Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. A Lahore-bound private flight, set to take off from Karachi, was also halted, forcing around 170 passengers to spend night at the airport lounge.
Overall, around 20 local and international flights were affected due to the airport closure.
Meanwhile, traffic was suspended on Lahore-Pindi Bhattiya section of the motorway on grounds of zero visibility.
