KARACHI, July 26: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) has sent MQM leader and designated mayor of Karachi, Waseem Akhtar to jail on judicial remand for 14 days in connection with two cases registered against him in Malir police station and Sachal police station.
The court has also issued notices on the petition filed by Waseem Akhtar seeking quashing cases against him and allowing him B class in jail.
The court has also issued order to prosecutor and respective police to present challan before it on next hearing.
The court while refusing to give remand of Waseem Akhtar in the case of holding protest rally outside Chief Minister house has remarked whatever investigation has to be made from the accused be conducted in jail.
Counsel for Waseem Akhtar took the plea that in the cases wherein his client’s arrest has been shown related to women public gathering wherein he was not present. Therefore, the cases are illegal which may be quashed.
