SUNDAY TIMES LAHORE:National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials produced the PTI leader before Accountability Court Judge Syed Najamul Hassan amid tight security on completion of his physical remand and requested further extension for investigation.
Aleem Khan’s lawyer opposed NAB’s plea for remand extension and said there was no need to extend his client’s remand. He said he had already submitted relevant documents with regard to Aleem’s offshore companies and other assets to the bureau.
After hearing arguments of the defence and prosecution side, the judge rejected the bureau’s request for extension in the accused’s physical remand and sent him to prison on 15-day judicial remand.
Earlier on February 25, the court had extended the remand of the PTI leader till March 5 which expired today.
The NAB prosecutor had stated that more than 30 people had been summoned for investigation in Aleem Khan case but only eight people showed up, adding that the extension in remand was necessary for further probe.
