QUETTA: Another victim of Congo virus died on Friday, death toll increased to 10.

Rehmatullah, a resident of Sarki Road in Quetta, who was admitted at a hospital four days ago, was died of the deadly disease on Friday, hospital sources said.

He was confirmed to be carrying the Congo virus two days ago, sources said.

Death toll from the deadly Congo virus now stands at 10.

Last week two patients in Quetta had died from the virus.

With Eid-ul-Azha around the corner, health experts advise citizens to take special preventive measures to avoid contracting the virus, which is commonly spread by ticks found on hairy animals.

Crimean-Congo virus fever is spread by the bite of ticks. They are fed on an infected animal or from exposure to blood or tissues during or immediately after slaughter of an infected animal.

The symptoms of the disease include sudden high fever with muscle aches, backache and headache. Symptoms usually felt in a patient in one to three days after exposure to ticks but in rare cases in nine days.
