RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday visited the Headquarters of Southern Command of Pakistan Army in Quetta and received a briefing on operational preparedness.
He was received by Commander Southern Command, Lieutenant General Aamer Riaz following which COAS laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to acknowledge the sacrifices of all martyrs, who laid their lives for Pakistan.
He visited Southern Command Headquarters, where he was briefed on the operational preparedness of the command, overall security situation in Balochistan and ongoing stabilisation operations.
General Bajwa commended army, Frontier Corps, and law enforcement and intelligence agencies for creating noticeable improvements in overall law and order situation in the province.
He particularly lauded support and sacrifices of the people of Balochistan for the restoration of peace in their province.
Appreciating an integrated approach of Pakistan army and the government for improved security and development, General Bajwa said army would render all necessary assistance to the provincial government for restoration of peace in the province, capacity building of the law enforcement agencies and by providing security for all projects in the remote areas.
He vowed zero tolerance against terrorism and directed to carry out indiscriminate operations against terrorists of all kind along with intelligence and other law enforcement agencies.
General Bajwa commended Frontier Works Organisation and National Logistics Cell for developing a road network in the province and stressed on the need to further accelerating development projects to ensure greater connectivity for the masses.
He also expressed the resolve to ensure foolproof security arrangements for the famous China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
