SUNDAY TIMES RAWALPINDI: Sources relayed that the accountability watchdog submitted its report to NAB Rawalpindi headquarters. “A combined investigation team has also been constituted in the light of the joint investigation team report to advance the probe into the next stage.”

The anti-graft watchdog is currently investigating 16 different cases pertaining to fake accounts.

According to reports, the accountability officials were briefed by the JIT probing the matter. More record has also been summoned from relevant officials.

On Jan 7, the Supreme Court, in light of the JIT report, had ordered NAB to conduct a thorough inquiry into the case and wrap it up within two months and submit a progress report every fortnight.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur filed a review petition on Jan 28 against the SC decision in the aforementioned case.

The petition had stated that the SC admitted the fact that the Federal Investigation Agency failed to furnish substantial evidence. It had said there was no rationale to move the case to Islamabad from Karachi.
