The first unit of 330MW of the combined 660MW power plant, located in Thar Block II, was connected to the national grid on Monday as it started power generation. The second unit will be connected in April, according to the Engro Powergen Thar Private Ltd (EPTL) chief executive officer.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had announced on Monday night that the power unit has started generating power from the world’s seventh largest coal reserves.
