ISLAMABAD: The government will organise a special “Azadi Train” which will start its journey a couple of days before 14th August and cover the journey of 4000 km within one month before culminating in Karachi.

The arrangements for running the train across the country to showcase the various aspects of Independence Day and the cultural colors of the motherland have been finalized by the coordination committee on which is headed by Secretary Railways Aftab Akbar.

The train will contain coaches representing the culture and traditions of all the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The train will stop at all the major stations for three to four hours where musical programmes and cultural dances by artists would be organized by Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and Lok Virsa.

The artists will entertain the public participating in Independence Day celebrations and also hold puppet show on national themes. Also, two new songs have been composed which would be played on the occasion.

Two coaches of the Azadi Train will be reserved for Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) which would highlight the sacrifices of the war heroes and pay tributes to the armed forces for their services for the nation.

Another coach will highlight different aspects of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

The main objectives for running the Azadi Train are to highlight the aspects of the independence movement, sacrifices of armed forces for the defense of the country and culture and heritage of all regions of Pakistan.
