KARACHI: Because of the rainfall in the catchment areas of the Hub Dam the water level in the reservoir has increased to 304.5 feet which is enough for one-year consumption of Karachi.
The irrigation department sources said that the rainy weather can last till September 15; the water level in the dam near metropolis could receive more rainwater.
The water level capacity of the water reservoir is 329 feet. The water level of the dam has been increased by 26 feet from the dead level.
As per water board sources, the level of water in the reservoir at present stage is enough to feed Karachi for more than a year.
Hub Dam is one of the biggest water reservoirs in the country and its catchment area comprises 250 kilometers till Khuzdar, officials said. The water level might increase even further after water from hilly torrents will reach the dam from the hills.
More water is expected to be added in the reservoir as the monsoon continues till September 15.
