SUNDAY TIMES LAHORE: Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar administered oath to Justice Shamim.
Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar had recommended to elevate Justice Shamim to the post of chief justice. He took oath as high court judge on 19 February 2010.
A full court reference was held for the outgoing Chief Justice Muhammad Anwarul Haq to pay tribute to him.
Speaking at the ceremony, Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim lauded the services of Justice Anwarul Haq as the LHC chief justice.
LHC judges, Advocate General of Punjab Ahmad Awais apart from federal and provincial law officers also spoke at the reference.
It is pertinent to note that former LHC Chief Justice Muhammad Anwarul Haq retired on Jan 31.
