SUNDAY TIMES ISLAMABAD:Pakistan’s foreign minister in his three-day visit will hold consultations in Beijing with the Chinese leadership, according to the sources.

Foreign Minister Qureshi will discuss the security situation in South Asia with the context to the ongoing Indo-Pak tensions in the region after the Pulwama attack and violation of Pakistan’s airspace by the Indian air force and firing at the border.

Qureshi will hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and other government officials.

The foreign minister will be leaving for Beijing on Sunday, and the strategic consultation between the officials of two countries will take place on Monday and Tuesday, the well placed sources said.

Pakistan’s foreign minister will apprise the Chinese leaders the latest steps taken by the government of Pakistan to de-escalate the situation.

The minister will also brief the Chinese leaders about the steps taken at the internal level, the sources added.
