KARACHI: Malir Rao Anwar claims Izhar’s arrest was ‘legal’, moves court against his suspension. He said that he arrested MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan under the law against his illegal deeds.

SSP Rao, in his request, said that he didn’t do anything illegal or break any law by arresting Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan.

He also claimed in the request that the suspension orders are illegal.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar, saying that the SSP’s method of arrest without a warrant was illegal.

Chief Minister Said that Malir Rao arrested Khawaja Izhar ul Hassan independently without asking or informing the Police IG or Chief Minister.

In response, Anwar reiterated the claim in his plea that it’s necessary to inform speaker only after the arrest and not before the action.

Inspector General Sindh A.D.Khawaja had later ordered immediate release of MQM leader and his transfer to the office of DIG South.

Adviser to chief minister, Maula Bux Chandio said the SSP had been suspended for his taking an illegal step.

Khawaja Izharul Hasan was released after five hours of detainment on Friday. Police raided his house in his absence and later took him away in handcuffs.

SSP Malir had reacted to the news saying that “it was not a big deal, these are routine things in police.”

He had said that the MQM leader was arrested under two cases, 16/378 and 16/374, registered in Site Superhighway police station.
